You must not send any item addressed to a country in which the item is unlawful or prohibited. When an item is restricted you must comply with the restriction. Prohibitions and restrictions vary from country to country, and can sometimes apply to items which you may think are ordinary. The information below is provided in good faith, but Royal Mail is not responsible for it, and it should be viewed as a guide only. Specific restrictions and changes may be enforced at short notice, so for clarification please contact the destination country's trade, postal, and customs authorities as appropriate. Business customers are strongly recommended to do this.

Prohibited items
Prohibited products are not permitted in the mail under any circumstances.
- Arms and ammunition.
- Toy arms and pistols as well as other materials that can easily be converted into lethal weapons.
- Bladed arms and other materials designed or made so as to disguise their true nature and which can be used or converted, like knives, swords or any other article able to cause wounds.
- Clubs and rifles whatever their design, if this disguises their true nature as clubs or rifles.
- Fireworks and ammunition containing a quantity of explosives.
- Alcoholic beverages and beer.
- Radio sets, transmitters and receivers and wireless telegraphy sets.
- Printed matter, drawings, books, cards, printing plates, magnetic tapes, discs, films, CDs, pornographic toys and dolls as well as other articles prejudicial to good morals. Any newspaper, circular, poster, book or photograph containing subjects likely to incite to the commission of violent acts against the government.
- Receipts or counterfoils of bills as well as any other identical blank or incomplete document.
- Banknotes or counterfeit coin.
- Cotton or silk cloth as well as other cloth with designs representing coins, bank notes, securities of the Oman government or of other governments.
- All kinds of narcotics, materials, tools or products declared to be hazardous at the International Conference on Opium and Narcotics.
- Hemp (Cannabis Sativa), the leaves, flowers, seeds, stalks or any part of this plant. Crude or refined opium.
- Chrysanthemums, the leaves, flowers, seeds, stalks or any part of these plants.
- Any other material prohibited as an import by virtue of a law or any other decisions, i.e.:
– guns for underwater fishing;
– robots;
– crude resin;
– clothing identical to military uniforms;
– women's underwear on which verses of the Koran are written;
– clothing bearing advertising for alcoholic beverages;
– clothing bearing photographs of famous people and flags of other countries;
– footballs and balls for other games bearing the flag of the Sultanate of Oman, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or Israeli flags;
– products bearing Israeli emblems of flags;
– Omani headdress bearing a crown and dagger or any other inscription or letter (except figures) or any other design contrary to the usages and traditions of Oman;
– nylon nets;
– anything that could undermine Islam;
– calcium-based medicaments and pharmaceutical preparations;
– truncheons resembling the official truncheons of police officials;
– merchandise bearing advertising designed to promote cigarettes;
– used tyres;
– tyres and footwear bearing the word "Allah";
– goods bearing the emblem of Nazism;
– clothing or electric lamps on which are printed the monotheistic profession of faith or the name of "Allah";
– willow;
– fireworks, explosives, (toy) arms and pistols for children;
– the emblem of the Sultanate of Oman;
– covers for spare wheels bearing photographs, inscriptions or designs contrary to good taste or incompatible with the usages and customs in Oman;
– certain kinds of sweets and chewing gum in the form of capsules, cream or cigarettes;
– electronically guided aircraft and parts thereof and training aircraft;
– the medical solution called Riccules Solution;
– all ministerial or administrative decisions promulgated concerning the prohibition of a particular substance or product.N.B.: There are other goods which come under a temporary prohibition by virtue of decisions taken by the governmental authorities, or whose import requires authorisation or compliance with certain specific formalities.
